Our Crazy Lives!!!

So I know it's been a while since I have posted life just got a little crazy for us. We came home from our camp out and I got a new job (same company just new position during normal daytime hours) so I had two weeks to get several things wrapped up with my current job, get a sitter arranged for Matt and Jake ready to start school. I started my new job on August 15th and Jake started school as a 1st grader that same week. We have really been enjoying getting to spend time all together and have been adjusting to the new routine. We felt like we were starting to settle in really well and then we had a surprise, Scott was called to be the 2nd counselor of our Bishopric, WOW! They just set him apart yesterday. We are so grateful for his willingness to serve and that the Lord felt that this is where we are needed. We know that all of our blessing come for our Father In Heaven and we feel so blessed. I will try to keep up better the last 6 weeks or so have just been so crazy. We love you all and we are so grateful to have you in our lives...

24th of July Fireworks & Hancock Reunion

We were so excited to finally see some real fireworks!!! We don't get many at home because of the dry conditions and lot's of trees to burn. They were so fun, we got to watch them with my Mom & Sisters family. We then headed out to our annual family reunion camp out. We had beautiful weather and lot's of peace and quiet it was so nice to get away and spend sometime with my Grandma & Grandpa. My folks & Sisters family then came up to spend a couple of days with us. We did some relaxing, Scott built a swing for the "kids", we did some crafts, a little sight seeing, cut some wood, and way to much good food as usual.

Sight Seeing in Downtown St George

I have fallen in love the St George! It is such a great community, we had a good time wandering downtown, we toured the Brigham Young Winter Home I loved all the antiques who know they were making waffels in the early to mid 1800s, I saw an early style barbie doll, some great furniture, the chair Brigham made him self and the bed was his as well so cool I loved it (Our guide did get a little hahah long winded but he had some wonderful stories, then we took the boys to the splash pad and the little water stream in the square and the kids got to put their feet in and cool off, we were having a great time and then, Matt decided to take a dive in (on accident as he was trying to go around someone) and tore his face up poor kid was so upset and pretty scraped and bruised up and had a chunk missing out of his eye lid I felt so bad for him. I decided to figure out how bad it was and asked if he was good enough to ride the Merry Go Round and yep he was, he still needed lot's of lovin' but was ready to move on and was a pretty good trooper the rest of the trip.

St George Tabernacle

This was the tabernacle built in St. George. I saw the stair case through the window at night and we went back the next day I absolutely loved them. The most amazing thing about the stairs is that there is no central support post they are completely free standing. The building had such great features it was very fun to take a tour and learn more about it and also to be reminded about the importance of tithing and faith.

So I decided to do some baking and couldn't remember how many the batch would make, so yep I doubled it and wow did we have cinnamon rolls coming out our ears. They were so yummy and guilt free since the were fat free! I am getting so much better at figuring out how to create healthier treats for us to enjoy.

I can hardly believe that I have been a mommy for 7 years now! Jake is such a sweet kid. We are so blessed to have him as part of our family. I love his imagination, and that even when he isn't excited about doing something he will still do it when I ask. I love how he plays with his brother and it is so fun to hear him read and to see him write. He is always good for a hug for his momma and loves to come in and wake me up 1st thing in the morning tell me he loves me and ask if we can snuggle. Thanks for coming to our family Jake, we love you.

Backyard

Here it is! Scott has worked so hard for the last few months making our backyard amazing! If you can imagine a yard of solid rock with a little dirt sprinkled in this would be it. So we had to build our yard up in order to put the sod in. Scott pored a concrete edging border 3"x6" around our entire yard, which meant we also had to pull up and relay the patio and then we trenched lines for the sprinklers and cables to run through then we hauled in 12 cubic yards of top soil by wheelbarrow since we couldn't get the dump truck to the back. Scott then compacted it and rolled the sod out. It is so beautiful!!! After waiting our 2 weeks for it to take we are enjoying the heck out of it. I had the boys out laying on a blanket and reading today it was so perfect, until it started sprinkling on us it was still nice to me but the boys decided to come in and stay dry. Scott also took a few min to finally sit down and relax, he has done so much to make such a nice yard for us. Thanks hun! Love Ya.

Garden

One of my favorite things that I have the best memories of from growing up was our garden! My mom and dad our amazing at the Garden's (granted they have great soil and the perfect climate for it, but they do good work) :-) I have tried off and on but for the last 3 years I have had really good gardens (for Flagstaff) and I am so proud that I can make things grow here. Lucky for me Scott let's me keep trying even though we don't usually get a lot out of it. This year I have to say is looking to be my best garden yet I am so excited to start getting some veggies and making salsa. This year we are growing Brussel Sprouts, Strawberries, Lettuce, Peas, Peppers: Bell, Jalapeno, New Mexico, & Big Jim's, Spinach, Green Beans (some of our favorites so we did 3 rows of just them!), and Tomatoes.

Ranch & Girls Camp

Wow can you say busy? Trying to get ready for camp and still working and fathers day and the lake and B's blessing. I love it out there. the boys played on the zip line and got very dirty but that's how I judge how much fun they are having. I took down the porch that collapsed a few winters ago and took about a million rusty nails out of all the old wood piles so we can burn them. The girls then helped me get them all moved down to the wood pile :-) thank goodness for their help with that it moved much faster than me alone. Anyhow it was a great time and we are now on the road to Powell so let the relaxing begin.

Jake's K Graduation was very fun, I did tear up a little though... He had a great time and is really going to miss all his friends but is also very happy for summer time and that he is now a Big 1st Grader!

All in a day with boys. Today was just one of those funny days when I realize how much of a boys world I live in, We were out at the Ranch and Matt needed to go potty, I told him he would have to us the old wooden outhouse and with out missing a step he said ok went in not only once but twice (so wouldn't happen with girls I remember wanting to cry when I had to use one), Matt comes in with a gash on his head from having hit the concrete, Scott is tucking them in and they have the newspaper adds "The Gun Section" and said there were their newspapers to look at, and then I found a rubber lizzard on the floor in the living room and another one taking a bath in the bathroom sink. They all just made me smile. What a boring life I would have without all my boys.

Memorial Day Weekend

Wow this was a busy weekend for us. Scott met Mom & Dad G to hand over the boys for a few days on Thursday. Friday we went to Cottonwood to pick up the boat and brought it back up for the season, worked on the yard (pics to come later, we are putting in grass). Saturday up early and went back to Cottonwood to help Mom & Dad J move to phoenix then we headed up the hill to Pinetop to spend the rest of the weekend with my family and Billy & Kara's families cabin. We were able to sit and enjoy some down time and hang out with most of the nieces (just missing Chan). Scott got to play golf and luckily the wind quit blowing (mostly). Thanks so much Kara & Billy for sharing your long weekend with us.

Jake's School has a "Wall of Fame" that the students teachers can recommended them to receive a "Brick". There were only 4 kids from Jake's class that received a brick this year, I was so proud of Jake for doing so well at School this year. His award was for "Personal Skills" this includes being prepared and ready to learn, helpful and kind to the other students, and being successful with his learning.

Then the boys got to go spend the weekend with their Granny & Papa. They had a great time. They loved getting to swim and thought the shakes and Johnny Rockets were the best.

For our anniversary (11 years already) Scott got me tickets to go see Broadways "Mamma Mia"

and took me to Phoenix to stay at Tapatio Cliffs for the weekend. It was such a beautiful and relaxing place.

Thanks so much to Scott's folks for keeping the boys. We had such a great time, we went to the show and loved it (me probably more than Scott, but love him even more than I did before since he went with me!!!), then spent the rest of the weekend lounging beside the pull in SUN SHINE and being WARM it was so great, eating amazing food and hanging out with good company! Scott of course, and my Sis & Bro Kara & Billy came out and joined us it was so fun.

Sorry all but I have to vent for a few... Really it's MAY!!! I went with Jake's K Class on their field trip today and what would you know it blowed, snowed, hailed, & rained on us the entire time (not even a week ago we were in flip flops & shorts!). But no today had to be nasty. The poor kiddos were soaked to the bone, we went to the deer farm petting zoo and the animals would hardly even come out, I felt so bad for the kids. I sure hope summer comes soon, I don't know how much more we can all take. (Picture is stolen from a friend. I was to busy trying to keep kids dry and had no chance for pics.)

p.s. I am grateful for the moisture just wish it would be a nice warm monsoon instead of miserable snow and wind!

A Day Downtown with the Boys

The Boys and I had a few hours so we headed downtown to have some fun. I got to take some pics of the cutest two boys I know (ok so I am biased) :-). And we hit some fun shops and a great little corner market with glass bottle soda, great candy and a great vibe. Oh and I got to play with my new camera!!!

Easter Weekend

The boys had a great Easter, they were so happy to have their Granny, Papa, Uncle Craiger, Karla, James & Baileigh all here with them. We colored Easter Eggs and Easter Pics. Then the Easter Bunny hid eggs for them to hunt in the back yard, we had a great Easter Picnic (inside of course, we still weren't warm here yet), The Easter Bunny even came and we got to hang out with family.

Jake has really enjoyed playing the violin this year. His school has a focus on the Art's & Science's. Each K-2 gets 2 30min. lessons every week. They have taught them lot's of fundamentals and the basics of performing and the kids seem to really enjoy it.

Ok so I through a friend came across this organization called Bountiful Baskets Food Co-op, they are amazing!!! I won't take time to give you all the info about them but you can check out their web site that I posted below the picture. But this is what I will share. These gals put together a co-op to help people get better prices on fresh fruits and veggies, it is so expensive to eat healthy anymore. They have pick up locations all over AZ & UT you put an order in each week letting them know if you want a basket it is $15.00 :-) for a Fruit/Veggie basket (it fills a normal sized laundry basket pretty well), then for additional $$$ you can do what are called add on's, fresh bread, Italian Food Ingredient Pack, Asian Food Pack, 40 lb. boxes of apples, & mango's and it just keeps changing always something new. The baskets are pre made up and you get what you get but after figuring the cost today for what I would have spent at the store I think I paid for the fruit and veggies ended up free! So I didn't feel like I could complain about that. All the group asks for is that some weeks when you order you either help with set up or clean up with organizing the baskets for everyone. Anyhow I was so excited about this that I wanted to share it with everyone I knew. If you want more info or have questions feel free to ask away. And if anyone is curious what kind of stuff you get for $15.00 today our basket had (apples, peaches, cherries, bananas, watermelon, cantaloupe, tomatoes, asparagus, cucumber, cauliflower, lettuce & bell pepper. Alright well we have had a busy month but it has been fun. The stockings are hung the tree is decorated the presents are wrapped and we have watched "The Christmas Story" & "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". We had Jake's 1st Christmas concert he did a really good job. We've been to 3 different Christmas Parties, seen Santa TWICE (the boys were so excited) & have been covered in about 2 feet of snow, we were able to build a snowman, make snow angels, my little deer were burried, the boys got to ride the four wheeler, and the tubes out at Aunt Karla and Uncle James house they had some great snow to play in. Jake loved every min. of it and Matt as you can see had fun until he was done and then he was done! So all in all I think we are all ready for Christmas and some fun time to relax and spend together with our families. Hope that you all have a wonderful Christmas and we hope to hear from you soon. Thanksgiving Fun

We had great fun at thanksgiving we had so much good food and I had more deserts than I did food which wasn't good for my waist but boy did I enjoy it! We had lot's of my family together at mom & dads (34 total) it was a little wild and crazy at times with 8 kids under 6 but as always it was worth it. Then on our way home we got to stop and see some of Scott's family at his cousins homecoming it was so great to see them we really miss them we don't get to see them often enough. It was a wonderful weekend and we have so much to be thankful for.

Matt's 2nd Birthday

I wanted to thank everyone for your concern and prayers with Matthew. Saturday was a pretty scarry day for us Matthew had gotten up early Sat. morning vomiting and with a 102 fever the Motrin didn't bring it down and with in 2 hrs he was at a 104 fever Scott gave him a bath to help cool him down and we got him an apt to see his pediatrician later the same day, Matt was resting on the couch while Scott and Matt were eating breakfast and I ran to the pharmacy to get some more Tylenol to see if we could get that to help his fever, while I was gone he had a "Fever Seizure", we ended up having to have him taken to the hospital by ambulance, we spent most of our day at the hospital running lot's of tests to make sure that there was nothing to worry about. They told us that he just has some kind of virus or flu bug and that his temp got way to high way to fast. We are so greatful for Family & Friends who were there for us and helped us in getting things taken care of. We were able to come home around 3:30ish and Matt still got to see some of his favorite people at his Birthday Party (he was a little mad about no cake for him though). But he still had a pretty good time he is now just trying to catch up on sleep he is pretty wiped out after everything. Jake Started Pre-School

I can't believe how big Jake has gotten, he started pre-school this year and loves everythinga about it except getting up for it! His teacher is so good with all the kids, it is fun to see all the things he works on there. This is Jakes 1st day I know I'm a little slow, this Thursday we wen't on Jake's 1st field trip we walked to the Brookside Chocolate Factory, the kids loved it and they all got to pick out something while they were there. And Jake's class put on a cute little play as well, Jake was the King in the play and did very well he remembered his line (we will have to work on his presentation he didn't have any emotion) it was so cute.

So I'm not sure how he got this but never the less it's here, and not very pretty, guess it's a good thing he's tough. I don't have much to say for myself except that I will try to keep a closer eye on this kid but he usually get's one to two new battle scars a week from the way he runs around like a crazy man... His eye is no a nice shade of green & black.

The kids had so much fun playing in the pool at Grandma and Grandad's House. It was so fun to get to spend some time with everyone, we didn't have enought time to visit and hang out much as we spent most of the weekend picking veggies (if you look at the size of the garden you will understand) I couldn't believe how big everything was the kids thought it was like a jungle, canning, chasing kids, and the guys worked on the Garage getting the wiring and siding done.

Ok so for all of you who check my blog I'm soooooo sorrrrryyyyy! I have been a blog slacker lateley, the last few months have been so hectic, but I think that this will catch me all up for now & I will try to do much better from now on. So here is what's been going on, the company that I worked for closed their doors here locally so I had 2 months to find something new, I did get a new job and have started to work for WL Gore, (the bad thing is they only hire f/t so I went from working 4hrs a night to 10 hrs a night 2:30-12:30 pm) wow has that been a shock to my system, but I think I am figuring it out. We went to our anual big family reunion for 9 days and enjoyed being to relax & hang out a bit (we missed everyone that wasn't there), we came home on Sunday & I started work Monday I didn't plan that too well, but Scott was amazing and made sure that everything ran smooth, I really am very spoiled! Scott has had several appointments with the Mayo Clinic and we fill we are getting somewhere so hopefully soon we will know what we can do to help him out so that he will start feeling back to normal (or as close as he can). We have a great Nanny (Ann) that comes in to be here with the boys during our few hours of overlap and she has been awsome to help with some of the house work too, the boys sure love her, thank goodness. Oh and probably the funnest news (atleast for the boys) they got bunkbeds and oh how they love them! Matt has done very well on his big boy bed & Jake loves getting to be on top cause he's so big. I know the beds aren't made but the boys were so excited to get to bed. I hope you all enjoy catching up with us, we love to see how you are all doing, sorry for all the slide shows but it was the easiest way to get caught up. Love Ya All. Melinda

We had such a good time over the 4th. Yep we were at the Ranch again, we sure love that place, especially the people that usually come with it. It is so fun to get to spend time with so much of our family while we are there. The Brinton's let us crash with them again, and we are sure greatful, the boys have even taken to them as an extra set of Grandparents :-). My kids are sure lucky to have so much family that spoil them and love them. We had some strage weather while we were there some sun, rain, snow, & even hail. But it was all worth it to get to be out enjoying good company.

Fish Family Fun...

A few weeks ago Lynette, the boys and I were able to go spend the day with Fish Family! Cindy & Kelsy were down from WY, Kevin, Brenda, Vaughn, Ali, & Rissa, Keith, Carla & their kids were on their way home from CA, & Glenna and her kids were able to stop by too. We had such a good time. They boys got to ride the Ranger around. Papa & Vaughn got the horses out and saddled for the boys Jake did get on for a min. but then was done, Matt & Jake liked the horses but were a little scared of them. Papa did let them help feed the horses hay though and they had fun doing that. Matt & Jake loved Aunt Cindy's puppies they wanted to walk them everywhere (the dogs were actually walking the boys). And Matt found a water hose just his size and had such a great time watering everything he could reach. Nana & Papa had lot's of the family over for Mexican BBQ which was so yummy and lot's of sides. It was so nice to get to see everyone. Thanks for having us Nana & Papa!

Ok so we are just a little craaaazzzzzzyyyyy! Yes we went to Lake Mary the last day of May and we do live in Flagstaff way to cold. The water was still what I would call Freezing! I am betting mid 50's. And we got in the water, we didn't waste much time getting all set we just told who ever was driving to hit it and start moving so that we didn't have sit still long enough in the water to turn to ice! I am not sure if we are dedicated or stupid but we had a good time. I may have to think about a wet suit however.

Thanks so much to everyone who came we had so much fun, and hope that the rest of you can join us next time (4th of July 2008). We put in lot's of hardwork & make sure to have lot's of fun. And we make sure we get plenty of good food. It is so great to get the time to strengthen our family bonds both past and present! We got a lot accomplished we were able to install a new Fridge, get a few leaks taken care of, started cleaning out the garage (still more work to do there) but we got lots done. Never a dull Moment...

Well it seems like we are constantly bandaging something, kissing something better, & going to the Doc. I am not sure if my kids are just clutzy or accident prone or if it is just the fact that they are boys. An we all know "Boys will be Boys!" this happened on Saturday (not at father's & sons) We were outside working on the trailer & boat getting them all washed up and the boys were playing in the back yard. When I heard Jake crying & went to the back to get him and he was coming aroud the front holding his head bleeding. He had been trying to do the Monkey Bars all by himself (he did tell me he's not big enough to do them and will get help from now on.) when he fell hitting the side of his head. Lucky for us it wasn't to deep and we were able to just butterfly it shut rather than having to do stitches. Poor kid hopefully we won't have to bad of a scar! Never seems to getting boring around here.

Fathers & Sons

Scott took the boys to their 1st Fathers & Sons last weekend. They had a good time ran around, got dirty, fished (of course Matt went straight into the water and got soaked), and I believe there were a few potato guns out there being shot. Flagstaff Weather

Gone Fishing

Scott had Monday off and we decided to take the boys Fishing. We got to the lake and got set up and it was so beautiful it reminds me why I am so lucky to live here. Jake had a great time casting and reeling his line back in, my reel broke about 20min into our adventure which is ok as I got to take more pictures that way. We say the coolest birds I'm not sure if it was a pelican or something like that but it was very neat to see it so close up. At one point Matt was so excited to see what Scott was doing and started to run down the little hill to be with him and of course tripped and fell head first into the lake (so sad I didn't have my camera for that..) Once we got him changed he was good for the moment. With no luck we went to the next lake and atleast saw fish in the lake even though we got no bites!!! The bugs were horrible and they were bitting plenty. I guess we'll have to try for earlier in the morning or closer to dusk if we want any bites from the fish. The boys had a good time but by the time we left the 2nd lake I think they had hat it. Hope it goes better next time.

Alright so lately Jake has been going through what I am hoping is a "stage" but he likes to fit into strange things and small things for that matter. A few weeks ago we were outside and I couldn't find him and was looking around and next thing I know the lid on the Ice Chest pops open and out he comes. Then last weekend I got a bag to carry my scrap booking stuff around when I need to take it somewhere and he was so excited and asked me if he could play with the box, I said sure (why again to we buy them toys?) Anyhow my mom came in and asked where my camera was and this was the pictures she got. It was so funny this box was really not very big maybe 8" wide 12" tall & 18" long at the most. Aren't kids fun!!! :-) Maybe someone will pay him for this talent one day and he can take good care of good old mom & dad!

Hard at Work

We were all out working on the yard and getting the trailer ready to sell and the boys couldn't not stay away! It is so fun to see them want to help and be a part of "everything" even when it is more work for you in the end. I had to grab the cammera I just thought they were so cute. It was a wonder that the trailer ever got wet with the amount of water the boys had everywhere else.

On Tuesday the boys and I were driving home from the library we pulled up behind an old VW Bus and stopped because the light was red, I wasn't really paying to much attention to the Bus and figured that they weren't turning right since there was a lot of traffic, when I looked forward I realized that there was this metal thing that looked to be a rear view mirror or something between me and the VW as I realized that it was metal and I would not want to drive over it for fear of damaging the car I put the car into park got out grabbed the hunk of metal and got back in the car and tossed it in the seat next to me, Jake asked what I was doing and I started giving him a lesson on "Littering" and that people should not through their garbage out in the street or leave it on the side of the road, that it was bad to do, while continuing on with the lesson the light turned green and the VW didn't move shortly there after a woman got out of the passenger side and waved us around and what point I went off on a little tirade about how people should use their hazard lights if they were broken down! So that people would know not to hold traffic up. By the time I was done on my "Soap Box" I looked over and realized that the contraption looked something like a reflector attached to the hunk of junk metal & at that moment as I am pulling in to the house I realized that I had gotten out of my car and stolen this ladies "hazard light" so to speak. I can't believe I am such a blond and of course I was way to embarrassed to try to go back to give it back so now I am confessing so that I can quit feeling quite so guilty.

Ok so I'm telling on myself here but I figured that you might all need a good laugh!

Fun at the Park

Today was such a pretty day. The boys and I went to the park to play and have a picnic. We had a great time, even though you can't tell from Matt's pics he didi have a great time at the park he just doesn't really like the cammera lately, unless he is helping take the pics. Kids and the Funniest Things

Well Jake has had some funny things happen lately & I have had a few requests that I should put them on the blog so here goes.

#1 A few months ago. We were at our ward party and Jake mentions to one of the Gals there that, and I quote "My mommy is the meanest mommy in the WORLD!" (this is because I told him he had to sit at the table and eat not run around while eating), he has continued to tell people this so the other night we were having dinner with Scott's family and we asked Jake if I was really the meanest mommy and he said yes, we then asked if Scott was the meanest Daddy and he said no, he if a good and fun daddy so then someone said to him, something to the effect of I'm sure you don't mean that I bet your mommy really is fun, and he says nope she's the meanest mommy. So I guess I have some major work to do!!!
(The good news is at the end of the day he still comes to me when he's hurt, or sad, and wants me to read him stories at nap time, and loves to give me hugs and kisses & he does tell me he loves me so maybe I'm not as bad as he thinks! :-)

#2 Since I'm the meanest mommy I'm going to share this one! While working out in the garage a few weeks ago Jake came running in telling us he had to go potty, after discovering that he only needed to go #1. I told him to just go in the backyard like we do camping on one of the trees, he told me no & I insisted since I didn't want to have to go inside, so he said ok. He goes out and stands about 2-3" away from one of the big pine trees in the backyard and assumes the position. Of course he doesn't think he needs to hold anything that "i"t will all be ok just hanging there, so I tell him that he has to point "i"t down when he goes potty so that he doesn't get pee everywhere. So I am watching from the garage when all of a sudden he lets go right in the middle of taking care of things. And before I can say anything "it" is pointing upwards and the pee is bouncing off of the tree and splashing Jake in the face. At this point I'm not going to jump in for fear of getting hosed myself, and being the good mom I am a stand there and try to hold my laughter in as I turn around so he can't see me, all the while Jake is sobbing. Once he was done we headed right in and got him all cleaned up. I think that is one day I will remember when he starts dating, if I don't like the girl I will share this little story and hope she doesn't come back. j/k

BBQ Days are Here

So last weekend I helped Scott put our Patio down in the backyard. (I know I'm sure you are all wondering how much I really helped but I promise I did.) I was sore enough the next several days to prove it! We are so excited to have it done it was one of our big projects for the summer and now it's finished! We wanted to get it done asap so that we could sit out and enjoy it all summer & fall, we got the Patio set put up, moved the bbq gril over & moved the swing to the backyard, I am really loving it. I can sit and read, relax or play with the boys outside thanks Scott for getting it done. The boys seem to like it too, they now have a nice place to ride their bikes, and play basket ball. Here is to Summer time here I knew there was a reason for living here. (p.s. we put the snow shovels away, anyone want to wager on if I'll have to bring them back out? I sure hope not).

I know the poor flowers don't look great but I think it's because we have this cray neighboorhood cat & I think he has been laying on the flowers. Yeah it was our day out to the HomeDepot again! (Wow they get their money out of us, they sure know what they are doing offering "free" kids projects.) The boys got to build planter boxes. They turned out really good. We then went to the garden center and let them pick out flowers to put into them. We are all getting really excited for Spring, the boys and I planted some Lillies and Strawberries last week and we will finish up their new boxes tomorrow. I will add more pics once they are done. In case I haven't said it, I love that HD plans these activites it is great to get out of the house and have something fun to go do.

Pinewood Derby Cars

Hi Everyone! Ok it’s starting to feel like spring again and it’s time to be thinking about getting together to do some more work on the Ranch, and really what better place is there to be during the Summer? We had so much fun last year! And want to do it again. It is so fun to look back and enjoy old memories and make new ones. So I thought I would check in and see who would want to come join us again this year. We have talked about Memorial Weekend or 4th of July, but if you can’t make it then and want to suggest another weekend that would be great. We may even plan a couple of weekends to try and get more work done (and to have more fun together). Some thoughts for projects are working on the Bunk House, Wood Cutting, Painting, Clean Up, Fencing, etc. If you have other ideas let us know and we will try to put a plan together depending on how many of us are getting together. We are looking forward to spending time together and growing our relationships as family. As most of you know Scott got really sick around the middle of November in February he got his gallbladder taken out, things have gotten better but we are still working to find out all of what has been going on. Scott has lost almost 60 lbs. since November. Thanks to all you for your love and concern and all the prayers that you have offered in our behalf.

We have decided that Matt is such a little Brute! He doesn't seem to be bothered by much he is constantly running into the walls getting bumps & bruises, he loves "playing bonk" which consists of hitting you in the head and wants you to hit him in the head and if no one will play than I have seen him head but the wall. So over the weekend we found out just how tough he really is. We were downstairs at my mom & dad's in their food storage room and I look down just as Matt is grabbing a "MOUSE TRAP" yikes!!! Of course my hands were full of glass jars and I couldn't do anything about it so I'm trying with my full arms to shake the trap off of his little fingers. And Mr Toughy cries for all of 30 sec. until daddy gives him a jelly bean. This kid amazes me he has some tolerance for pain.

Easter

We had a wonderful Easter. The Bunny even stopped by Grandma & Granddad's house thank goodness. The boys got spoiled yet again I can't seem how to stop myself sometimes (The great news was that everything was 40-75% off so I kept costs down) I have a very hard time when I see a good deal, maybe one day I will figure out just because it's on sale doesn't mean it's a must have!
We were able to listen to my sister Teresa sing a special musical number in church it was really fun to hear her sing again it has been a while since I have gotten listen to her preform. She did such a beautiful job. And then we enjoyed the rest of our church meetings getting to feel such a great spirit around such a miraculous event. It truly is a blessing in my life to know of my Saviors love for me and for his willingness to die for me so that I might be able to live again and be with my loved ones forever. I am so grateful for the blessings that I have been given in my life I know that I am watched over and cared for everyday of my life. One of our lessons in church was to "Live each day as if it were your last". As I started to think about this I though how true this was, I want to make sure I don't let an opportunity go by that I am ungrateful, of that those around me don't know that I love them, of that I haven't said something to someone that I have wanted to. So I just want to take this time to tell you all how much I love & appreciate your examples and kindness and friendship in my life.

The Picnic & Egg Hunt

I just wanted to start the pics off with a bang for those of you who didn't get to be at the Picnic this year, we really missed you! However we were glad to not have to share Grandma's Cherry Chocolate Cake!!! It was so yummy, very moist & oh the frosting was not just Chocolate but Hershey's Chocolate it was amazing. Thank you grandma!

We also were treated to Baked Beans, Potato Salad, Grilled Italian Chicken, Green Salad, Devil "Celestial" Eggs (per Grandpa), Hamburgers & Hot dogs. It was so fun we had a nice day I was even wearing shorts it was so nice to feel the warm sunshine & enjoy spending time with our family that was around.

WE had a great time coloring eggs this year. Jacob thought that it was lot's of fun, Matt was just impatient he likes instant gratification. It was lot's of fun to have Jayda, Grandada, Grandma & Aunt Tree helping us with the eggs. Bowling

Ok so here are the bowling pics. Jake saw bowling on TV a few weeks ago and has been begging to go ever since. We had a great time, the boys were so excited about all of it, the balls, the shoes, the ball return it was really funny to watch them. They didn't have Matt's size shoes so he was in 1 size larger than what he wears and it was so funny to watch him walking around. (I will try to get the video up later.)Jake loved playing and didn't want to come home, Matt was tired of it after round 4 he might have done better had it been his turn everytime. We will have to make this a regular family activity however we may just take Jake next time so he can enjoy it a little more. Kids are just so funny to watch learning something new. Jake wasn't sure if he should be rolling it or throwing it like a baseball it was great.

Everyday Hero's

I just wanted to take a minute to say a Heartfelt thank you to all of our Service Men & Women out there. When I think of the gifts and sacrifices that they give for me and my family it bring tears to my eyes and warmth to my heart. I feel so blessed that I live in this Country and that I have so many freedoms. I know that we are not in a perfect country and I don't always agree with decisions that are made and the reasons that they are made but I never am ungrateful to be here!

This is my Uncle Jim, he is just one of my Hero's that I am proud to know and love. He is one of the reasons that I wear my "Until They All Come Home" bracelet. It is something simple that I can do to help me not let a day go by without being thankful for all my blessing. Thank you Uncle Jim we love you so much!

This is my new Brother in Law Eli. He is just one more of my Hero's, even though I know that he would tell me he isn't. Yes you are! We are so happy to call you family now. And even more than that we are so grateful for your willingness to serve our country and keep our soldiers safe. NASCAR

Ok so we are not big NASCAR fans but I loved the HD project this month. The boys got to build the HD NASCAR, the best part was the prestained the wood for us "No Painting" YEAH! The boys haven't stopped racing them around the house since the finished them. We only had one little problem the tried to lick the car and ended up with the Orange Stain all over his mouth, it was pretty funny. Maybe one day he will learn that not everything goes in your mouth. I can't say enough about the Project Days they are so much fun, I think I look forward to them as much as the boys do, we all have a great time going together.

Matt's Black Eye

Matt got his first shiner yesterday, we were getting ready for church and we heard screaming, I asked Jake what happened and he had no answer, so I asked if he pushed Matt, he said no he fell, needless to say we still don't know how it happened but he split his eyelid open from the corner on the outside of his eye all the way to the middle of the eyelid, it's a little swolen and bruised but I think he will be just fine. Poor little guy!

Yeah finally we got to go back to the Kids Days @ Home Depot! This is one of the boys favorite things to do but we were just to busy to get to the December activity. This month the boys got to build really cute Castles that the roof comes off of to "Store their Valuables" in. The boys both had a great time. Jake & Daddy got them painted with Matt napped. We had so much fun. We celebrated my Grandma's 48 and holding Birthday. It was great we got to see so many Family & Friends. It was really special to be able to celebrate together. I'm not sure what to do with myself now that all my projects are done. I did a huge Photo DVD with pics from grandma's life and a scrapbook with some fun pictures from when she was growing up and with her kids when they were young. I had a great time getting to see more of your life Grandma, thanks for sharing your life with us! We had such a great time, we'll take anything to use for an excuse for a party.

Well Christmas was fun, the kids got spoiled and have had lot's of fun with all their new things. We had to cut Christmas morning short Jacob ended up with the flu and Matt followed shortly their after. I think they are both back on track to feeling good and eating normal again soon.

Christmas Eve was great we got together at my Mom & Dad's home in Snowflake. I think I got a count of about 20 adults and 6 little ones under 5! So it was a houseful. We ate, laughed, sang Christmas Carols and heard stories of Jesus and the meaning of Christmas. It was great to be able to spend time together with everyone. Thank after our Christmas Program elves came to visit the little ones. They came to the windows from outside and peeked in and jiggled their bells. The kids loved getting a peek at them they "Screamed" with delight (and some were a little scared) and they would jump every time the Elves came back, I can't remember laughing this hard in quite some time. Thanks to our Christmas Elves!

So I am finally able to relax. (ok not really) I am going to blame this whole thing on my mom since I really need a scapegoat. She started this by making me a beautiful sequined, beaded & embroidered stocking. So when Scott and I got married I thought that he would need a fancy one too, so I got to work on his. It didn't seem to be a big deal. So then when I had Jacob I thought we had better get Jake a stocking done. (Yeah he was born in '04, and yes I just finished yesterday!) I started his for his 1st Christmas but with a new baby I just didn't get the time in to work on it, and it got put away after the holidays, so then the next year came around & I once again picked it up with every intention of finishing it oh and again I didn't finish it, last year my amazing sister Teresa did Matt's stocking for me (I think along with 2 for her family) and poor Jake's was only half done. So this year I was determined to get it finished so for a few weeks now I have done nothing but this stocking. I am so glad that it is finally finished, I told Scott that we can't have any more kids because I'm not doing any more stockings. Thanks a lot mom, next time pass me on something that maybe I can accomplish. :-)

Alright so it is a really good thing that my kids are cute because there are some days that I just think that they are the biggest DORKS! Matt has been the sillier one most recently. I guess he is trying to "work" like someone but I am not sure I ever remember seeing Scott or Papa or Grandad dressed up like this to get a job done. Also I am not sure why kids think that things "taste" better if they shove it up there noses but they seem to. It's a pretty good sign of toddlers in the house when the High Chair is stripped of everything that you might have to put more effort into cleaning. I have found that the less cute stuff the chair has the better, it cleans up way faster.

Ok so to most people this would seem pretty normal but I have to tell you that this was a first. Matt has a thing about "NOT" sleeping at Granny's house. Not even when he was really small would he take a nap at Granny & Papa's house. We would either have to deal with a crabby patty or come home because he would just refuse to nap over there. Well Sunday Matt finally gave in after 15 months he finally took a nap at Granny's, we had Ryan's home coming talk and had lot's of Family and Friends there, Matt tried to play with Jake & Eden but I think he just got wallered mostly. By late afternoon with no nap all day he crashed out. Maybe this is a sign of better days and getting to stay longer with Papa & Granny.

Winter Fun

It has sure been a lot of fun lately.
The boys got to see Santa two nights in a row last weekend. Friday night we had are Ward Christmas Party & then on Saturday night we went to the Light Parade & then to Scott's work party where Santa came again. Jake has been continually asking Santa for a Sleigh, today we asked Jake what he was going to do with it & he said get a horse or reindeer to pull it for him. It's sure good to know that my kids is down to earth and doesn't have to high of expectations. Jake has really loved getting to see Santa this is the first year that he has enjoyed him so that has been fun. Matt on the other hand thinks that Santa is pretty scary! And doesn't want much to do with him.
Well we finally got our 1st snow here in Flagstaff. Thank goodness we have been so dry, we are so greatful for all of the moisture. I think between my measurements and all the snow in between we probably had close to 18" at our house. It has been lot's of fun. On Tuesday we took the boys out to play they both had lot's of fun. Matt did get a little frustrated that it was so hard to walk in (can't imagine why the snow was up to his waist & he was layered in 4-5" of clothing). They made snow angels and ate lot's of snow & Jake even launched a few snowballs (at my car) of course. It was pretty funny we have some of the wire reindeer out front and I had to uncover them they were completely covered. Hopefully this is just the beginning. I would take several more storms like this. I love the snow and am so glad that I live in AZ so that it warms back up within a few days, I'm not sure I would love it so much if it stayed for 5 months straight.

Uncle Ryan is Home

Well Tuesday was a great day! Ryan is finally home from Argentina. It was a crazy day we were supposed to all go to the air port here in Flagstaff around 1:30 to pick him up. But Mother Nature had other plans! We got our 1st Snow storm. Anyhow so Uncle Mike & Aunt Gail went down to meet up with Ryan at the Air Port in Phoenix so that he wouldn't have to sit alone for to long once he found out that his flight was canceled. Mom, Dad & Craig dug out at the house and then headed down to pick Ryan up, they got home about 4:00 that night. I can hardly believe that he is home. I told him that if felt just like yesterday that we were saying goodbye. I sure though that it would be forever but the time passed so fast. It is strange to think that Jake was only Matt's size when Ryan left. The boys sure love Ryan, Matt took just a few seconds to decide that he liked this new uncle. We are so happy that you are home Ryan and are so proud of all the Service that you gave while on your Mission.

Tis' the Season

Ok well this is a little slow getting up but here it is anyways. We finally put the Tree up on Monday, I think it turned out pretty good considering my helpers! We are definitely not one of the houses with the Beautiful Christmas Tree but it was lot's of fun. The boys both tried to help decorate it, Matt just pulled them off, which would be why we only have the tree decorated half way down now. (oh well at least we tried) I had originally thought we would just decorate the bottom of the tree with the Satin Balls, however Matt thought that they looked pretty yummy he was taking bites out of them like they were apples it was pretty funny. It about 3 hours we knew that was a bad idea. I also decided to paint ornaments for each of us this year it was fun and they turned out cute I do remember it being a lot more fun to paint the ornaments when my mom & dad & sisters & I all did them together, just doing them by myself was not quite so fun, maybe next year I will let the boys try and help me paint there own ornaments.
